It is finally winter, and we’ve officially moved into 2018. I love changing up my products and fashion seasonally, so it is only fitting that my featured favorite change as well. Here’s what I’m living for right now:
White Winter Teddy Coat
I sometimes randomly browse the men’s offerings on the Forever 21 website and a few months ago I saw this coat. I really liked it, but I was nervous about picking it up online because I didn’t know how the sizes would translate. I tried to find it in stores with no luck, so I ended up ordering this is a size Large (the model was wearing a Medium I believe, and I knew I wanted it to fit loose). I love the fit, it is so warm and cozy and it looks perfect against any winter landscape. Highly recommend if you can still find it (btw the buttons don’t actually…button, lol).
Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Lipsticks
I have a recent blog post reviewing these lipsticks, so if you’re curious check it out here. I purchased 4 out of the 14 shades, and I’m thinking about going back for more. I love how smooth these make my lips look. The formula is so comfortable and pigmented. My favorite shades are Midnight Wasabi and Freckle Fiesta.
Glittery Nail Polish
I don’t know what it is about the holidays/the new year that makes me think of glitter and silver, but my past two manis have been heavy on the glitter. I usually prefer something a little less eye-catching, but my current nails are the perfect shade of peach (that pulls sort of nude on me) and the glitter picks up any color in all my outfits.
Packing On the Highlight
OMG, so I started highlighting my forehead and it didn’t literally change my life, but basically yes. If I layer on liquid, cream and powder highlights at different stages in my makeup routine and then go heavy on the finishing spray, the highlight makes my skin look so radiant and smooth! You guys should try, unless I’m the last person on Earth to discover this.
Right now I am having a love affair with fall. I get to snuggle into all my favorite warm clothing and appreciate the damp air and early sunsets. This also means that my fashion and beauty favorites have shifted to suit current trends. In my #yaasss rotation:
Origins Clear Improvement
This is an active charcoal face mask that is my go to when the winter chill makes my face a pimple wonderland. I apply a thin but opaque layer on clean skin, let process for half an hour and wash it off with a light exfoliant. I see instant results and recommend this for combo to oily skin types. Great for a spot treatment or once a week pick me up.
The holiday season inspires me to be a bit more festive and thoughtful fashion-wise. Statement earrings like these bauble drops look chic with a messy bun, low slick pony or polished flowing tresses. They compliment virtually any neckline and a graphic pair like these can be worn thru spring with florals, solids and mixed metals.
Morphe x Ourfa Vinyl Lip Set
Ugh this color! All my life I’ve looked for that color that is slightly richer than my natural lip shade, just rosy enough to make my pout extra juicy, but still somewhat in the nude or approachable family. I thought a mulberry tone would be the ticket, but this soft, rosy terracotta is my ultimate favorite lip color.
More layers = more layers of accessories. While I adore bracelets, they aren’t so practical for me while I’m working, so instead I love stacking on plenty of rings. I like to keep my ring stacking “uneven” meaning an odd number of fingers (3 out of 7 or 5 out of 10), and I wear the bulk of my rings on one finger – usually my ring or middle finger. I am always looking for unique pieces but these stackables from Forever 21 are a simple, trendy touch that accent my more unique pieces perfectly.
Maison Margiela – By the Fireplace
OMG this perfume! I had been holding myself back from purchasing this scent because of sticker shock, but I decided to snag it during the 20% off VIB sale.
After a long commute you finally arrive home, entering to soft heat unfolding from the fireplace. You pad barefoot across the hardwood floors to the kitchen and pour a healthy splash of bourbon over ice. Your sweetheart comes up behind you, sweeping your hair to one side to leave a soft kiss on your neck.
By the Fireplace feels like that moment. It is a warm, light scent with notes of wood and true maple syrup. Similar to cinnamon, this fragrance is spicy and begs to be sweet. It would layer well with floral vanilla or earthy sandalwood scents.
Crushed Velvet Moto Jacket
Remember when I said I only shop at Forever 21 online? Well, I should have said I rarely shop in stores. I happened upon this jacket one weekend making a return at a nearby store. I had seen this coat online, but didn’t feel a true need for it, however that was earlier on in the season. When I saw it again, I started to think of all the cute fall clothing I could pair it with and decided a purchase was in order.
Though I wouldn’t consider my upper body plus size, I often prefer to buy jackets in XL and 1X because I have bulky upper arms. In any case, this jacket is very forgiving fabric and the L fits just right.
Elbow Length Gloves
To me, long gloves or non-cotton gloves are a vintage, vixen touch. They’re subtle, but add a heap of drama to any outfit. I love pairing gloves with jackets or sweaters that have short or 3/4 length sleeves.
