You know when you make plans and you’re really excited but as soon as it comes time for said plans, you would rather chew marbles than go anywhere? I have that, and it only gets worse in winter. It can also make it very hard to get moving in the morning. Instead of spending an extra 20 minutes of your day throwing clothes around your room, here are a few helpful outfit formulas to make dressing a light spring breeze.
Printed Pant + Graphic Tee
I’m going to go on a bit of tangent here, but does anyone get tired of wearing jeans all the time? Despite my love of fashion, I would definitely consider myself a jeans and (ruffled, sequined, or otherwise embellished) tee shirt kind of girl. But then I end up feeling like I am wearing the same outfit every day. With this graphic tee & printed pant combo, I never have that issue. A printed pant is a great staple to have in your closet for many reasons. First, it transcends seasonal weather. Secondly, it is versatile for many occasions (dinner & drinks, officewear, Sunday brunch). Finally, it allows us a chic reprieve from over-wearing our favorite jeans.
In this photo, I am rocking the grid-print pants from Forever 21 (I am wearing size 1X, and I usually wear 13/14 in jeans). If you’re curious about fit, F21 makes their plus size pants very loose in the waist/stomach area to accommodate plus size figures. This can sometimes cause a problem for me because my belly is fat but my waist is small. I do wish the torso portion of these pants were tighter but despite the ankles being slightly too wide for my taste, the pants look cute cuffed up and I love how easy this print is to pair. I also wore this outfit with my F21 Shaci leopard coat and the coat worked well with the pants.
The top is a new item. SheIn reached out to me about modeling some of their clothes and I was really excited to work with them. For me, I would typically feel uneasy ordering online from new websites, or sites that do not have brick & mortar stores. I sometimes fear the website could be a scam or the sizing might be off and then I’d have to go through the hassle of return shipping. Luckily, I had none of those issues with SheIn.
They allowed me to pick two items for free (but they generously threw in a third) and all the clothing came well packaged, within one week and in great condition (no tears, stains, etc.). The cape jacket is size 1XL, has hidden pockets and hits the perfect mid-calf length. The armholes inside are a bit tight, though. The top is size 1XL, and I wanted this to be loose and oversized, almost like a tunic. My usual shirt size is L, and XL for tops with long sleeves or fabrics with no stretch. Based on that, and how the cape jacket fit, I would say that SheIn’s sizing may run slightly small. Even so, I now feel totally comfortable ordering from them and I can’t wait because they have some really cute, trendy clothing!
If you are interested, I have a coupon code for 20% off $60+ in regular priced items. So basically, you can spend $45 and get $60 worth of clothes. Totally worth it if you ask me. The code is itstaylor20 or you can use my link HERE to start shopping – let me know what items you pick up from SheIn! (p.s. I don’t get any cash back for you using this link)

Dress + Tights
A winter outfit couldn’t get more classic than this staple. A dress with tights transitions day to night really well, and allows us to utilize dresses from the other three seasons of the year. This dress is another complimentary item from SheIn. I love the mustard color, which I feel will be trending all year in 2018, and I love the retro 70’s vibe. For reference, I am also wearing a size 1XL and considering I usually wear XL in dresses, this item confirms my belief that SheIn has sizing that runs a bit small, so take that into consideration. If you like your items short and tight, order your usual size, but if you like some room to move around, size up.
My best tips for planning sweater + tights outfits, are to have a variety of options and always have a pair of tights ready to go. You may want to invest in a couple out of the box colors such as maroon, navy, grey, olive green, and eggplant.
Pair your colored tights with an LBD, or if colors are too adventurous for you, a pair of sheer, polka-dotted tights may be the way to go. If instead, you’d like to keep the interest on your dress, go for a floral, geometric or color-block print.

Skirt + Sweater
Did you get a chance to read my 5 Ways to Wear Sweaters post? If not, I’ll link it here because trust me, it has some great tips for sweater styling. If you did read it already, then you’ll know that sweaters with skirts are probably my favorite trend of the moment.
I sometimes feel like I have to compromise girly clothes in winter because I need heavy, warm reliable pieces but that is not the case at all with this style outfit. Look for sweaters in fun colors, with unique touches such as ruffles or mesh inserts, and if all else fails, add a brooch. Types of skirts that work best with this combo are denim skirts, pleated, pencil/midi, leather or even layer your sweater over a maxi dress.
I hope some of these quick outfit ideas help you dress more stylish but speedy each morning. If only I could take my own advice, haha. Thank you for reading!
