As a fashion lover and clothing hoarder, I generally stalk all my favorite online stores at least once a week. Recently I was browsing MissGuided and I saw that the Jourdan Dunn collaboration finally released!
All of the items in the collection are urban chic; an irresistible blend of sportswear and traditional feminine elements. It’s got staple pieces like this blush pink satin drawstring jacket and the perfect black midi skirt. Right now the entire website is having a sale of 50% off (that’s including sale items, you guys) so it’s a great time to get all your favorite Londunn pieces at a bargain.
The one item I needed from the collection was the pink cowl neck hooded sweater dress above. I literally live in midi skirts, bodysuits and sweater dresses. I decided to buy this dress because it’s a piece you don’t see everyday. I rarely see sweater dresses that look like hoodies, which this one does. On top of that, it’s pink, so I had to have it. And the flirty neckline gives it a double dose of style. It goes for $84USD full price but I was able to snag it for about $40.
- wear this dress with sneakers and a baseball cap for a sexy yet loungey look
- dress it up with booties and a leather jacket for a night out on the town
- for an everyday outfit pair it with a long but light duster jacket and sandals
I wrote a review for UrthAve a week ago today (3-16-17) and placed my order for my sweater dress. MissGuided offers a rebate code for purchasers to share online and receive discounts or cash back.
The order was confirmed quickly and sent out the following day. I received the package exactly one week later.
During the ordering process I referenced their size guide and decided it was safest to order the largest size, size 12. I am definitely not a skinny girl, but I generally wear size 8-10 in dresses. I don’t know why I didn’t go with my standard size, but I felt it was better to be safe rather than sorry.
Well that backfired because now I’m sorry that I didn’t just order my regular size. Just by looking at the dress out of the packaging, it looked a lot larger than I wanted it to be. On the model, the dress fits loose but fits slim on the arms with an above the knee hemline. I ordered my dress to fit the same way, but after trying it on it feels more like a sack.
The arms are a lot looser than I’d like, and the torso of the dress has a lot of volume that I don’t think is flattering at all. The neckline is also a lot lower than I’d like it to be, and sort of floppy. My advice–if you’re on the thicker side like me, just order your regular size.
Right now I’m slightly regretting my purchase but I also don’t think it’s worth it to put in a new order and replace my current one. What I will most likely do is bust out the needle and thread and make my own adjustments to make this dress more flattering. I still very much like this piece, it just didn’t match up to my expectations.
I’ll include some styling pics later once I’ve altered it to my liking. Thanks for reading!
