Hello friends! I just received my March Ipsy Glam Bag in the mail. I have been subscribed to Ipsy since October, but I haven’t felt inspired enough by my Ipsy bags in the past couple months to do a review. Surprisingly I’m actually really excited by this month’s bag!
If you are not subscribed to any boxes/bags, I think Ipsy is a great choice to consider. It’s only $10/month, you can cancel at any time up until 24 hours before the bag is sent out, and each bag includes 5-6 sample and deluxe sample sized products.
Theme: Tres Jolie
This month is all about spring time, taking inspiration from the simple beauty of French femmes. The bag itself is stylish and chic; a blush faux-suede fold-over clutch with a metallic scale print on one side. Besides the Halloween/Valfre bag I got in October (which was also blush pink) this is my favorite bag design.
This month I received one hair product, one skincare product, one tool and two beauty products in my bag.
Eva NYC Mane Magic 10 in 1 primer
Air Repair Skincare Complexion Boosting Moisturizer
Elizabeth Mott Blending Brush
Eyeko Fat Eye Stick in satin
Tarte Cosmetics Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint
My first reaction to my Ipsy products was positive. I tend to prefer beauty products, so I was happy my bag was mostly beauty and skin related as opposed to hair items or nail polish.
I like the brand Eva NYC, but I don’t tend to like the hair products included in my Ipsy bag. This is mostly because I have a very specific hair type (curly and wavy, color and heat damaged, dry scalp but I need color protection) and the products just don’t fit well into my routine. This 10-in-1 primer is supposed to detangle, strengthen and add shine all while speeding up dry time. This sounds like something I can use, since I blow dry my hair straight before flat-ironing. When I do my hair in a week or so I will see how it behaves, but in general I am pretty excited. I don’t have a good heat protectant right now and this could really boost my blow dry results.
Some of you may know that I also subscribe to the Sephora Play! Box, and in my March box I received the GlamGlow mega illuminating moisturizer. I am happy to have received another illuminating product (the Air Repair moisturizer) and I may do a this vs. that review to see which performs better. Let me know if you’d be interested. I don’t see this product changing my life or anything, but I am always happy to receive an illuminating product since I love a natural/dewy finish to my skin and makeup.
As far as the blending brush goes, it looks cute and feels soft. It’s got a good balance between loose and dense. And I love the colors of rose gold and mint. The one downside is that this is the third eye blending brush I’ve gotten in an Ipsy bag in only 6 months. On the one hand, you can never have too many blending brushes, even though in general I do prefer Morphe Brushes. But I’m paying $10/month for variety and exposure to new brands and products, and I do feel this is too repetitive.
I love chubby eye sticks because they’re great for getting a wash of color on the eye or popping into the lower lash line for some brightness. The color I received, Satin, is a cool toned taupe with a silver metallic twist. I’d use this for inner corner highlighting, halo eye looks and lash line pop of color.
I love getting high end or well known brands in my subscription boxes! Tarte is one of my favorite brands and I am excited to try the lip color. It’s a deep brick red, not very on trend for spring, but the Ipsy theme nods to rocking a bold lip this season. I can’t imagine myself wearing this color until late summer though, but I do think it’s pretty and I’m excited to see how the formula performs.
Overall, I would say the value was really there for this month’s bag. I’d pay $10 just for the bag itself, so all the products inside were really a bonus. Tbh, I was thinking of canceling my Ipsy subscription but this has renewed my interest. I’m also glad I stayed subscribed since the GenBeauty (hosted by Ipsy) which I’ve written a blog post on. I’ll update it with my experience review after I attend. Anyway, I am really pleased with this month’s bag and you’ll probably see me walking around with this super cute clutch.
If you have Ipsy or you’ve tried it in the past I’m curious to hear about your experience. What kind of products do/did they send you? How long have you been subscribed or how long were you subscribed?
