If you’re like me then you never have enough makeup brushes. No matter how many I buy I always need more. Are makeup brushes the new hair ties and bobby pins?
I consistently see Youtubers raving about Morphe Brushes. Despite their domain name they are more than just makeup brushes though I would say that is their specialty. You can purchase eye and brow makeup, lashes, as well as other makeup accessories (liquid lipsticks coming soon!) on their website which I will link here.
I placed my first ever order with them online Friday August 21st. I will briefly overview my experience and thoughts before reviewing the products themselves.
The first thing I noticed was the layout and design of their website. Some might call it retro, others might call it outdated. The colors and set up don’t scream “affordable but high quality very desirable makeup” but I continued with my purchase anyway.
I did find it helpful that a number of videos have been made on the quality of their products and some of their most popular offerings. I watched MannyMUA’s Morphe Brush Favorites video, Patrick Starrr also has a Morphe Brushes video and a favorites video Amanda Ensing posted rather recently as well.
I was in the market for some new non-MAC eyeshadow blending brushes and an eyeshadow palette for my makeup kit. I have been wavering between Makeup Geek and Morphe for a long time but decided to go with Morphe because they offer a number of palettes in the $20 range with a wide variety of color choices. I decided on the 35o–35 Color Nature Glow Eyeshadow Palette. I felt that those warm colors could suit many eye/skin colors and would make a great transition from summer to fall.
The brushes I ordered were:
—M159 Angle Liner/Chisel Fluff Brush, which is double sided
I used Manny’s discount code on my overall purchase which took about $4 off the total price. I received a confirmation of my order later on the same day but my shipping wasn’t confirmed until August 28th. I was very disappointed that it took a week for the products to ship out, especially considering we are both located in California and I was hoping to receive my items within 10 days as is the case with other retailers like NYX and ColourPop.
I received my items Wednesday September 2nd. They came in a rather large box, bigger even than a typical sneaker shoe box. The eyeshadow palette was bubble wrapped on the outside and inside and the entire box was filled with packing peanuts. Everything arrived in perfect condition.
I purchased a combination of natural hair and synthetic brushes. Synthetic brushes start out very silky and become rough over time while natural hair brushes are usually bristly at first and gradually soften up, but even so I was expecting them to be slightly better quality. The brushes were a bit rougher than I expected and a couple were shedding slightly but they were definitely worth the price. The eyeshadows however are pigmented and creamy. I also loved that they have a detailed ingredients list which makes me feel safer about using them.
Let me know if you want swatches from this palette. Overall I am happy with the quality of the products and I would recommend purchasing from them. I would definitely order from Morphe again.
